Toshiba TB25 DLP TV Housing Swap Tutorial
Posted by Dalton Ikenberry at
Hey guys! In today’s blog we are going to be looking at putting a new lamp into your old Toshiba TB25 housing. This is going to become necessary in the future as these types of housing are no longer being produced and you can only get bare Phoenix lamp for the housing now. This lamp is called an SHP87. These easy steps we will go over will help you keep your TV up and running for many more years to come.
The first thing to do when opening this housing is to take the 2 screws that hold the back of the housing in place. This will give you access to the bulb.
Next, we remove the one screw that is holding the connector for the lamp in place. This will free the connector and allow us to remove it from its little plastic holster.
Now that the connector is loose, we can remove the metal clip that holds the lamp in place. This is a large clip that goes around the entire bulb and is held in place by 4 screws. Remove these screws and you can remove this clip.
Now that all these pieces are removed, you can now pull the bulb out of the housing and place the new lamp in its spot. When handling the new bulb, you will want to make sure you wear white gloves. This is to keep fingerprints off the bulb as the natural oils can cause overheating. Once you have the new lamp in place, you just do the above steps in reverse order and the new lamp will be ready for the TV.
