There are times during some snowfalls where the wind is still, and large flakes settle slowly.  The loudest sounds are one’s own footsteps and labored breathing from the hike at altitude.  After a pause the breathing slows and is replaces by a noticeable absence of sound.  During the muted silence the snow clouds that hang over and around the trees and stream are pierced by rays of warm sunlight.  The muted shadows become cool and bluer in comparison to the warm sunlit areas.  There, in that place, both stillness and light share the same moment, and everything is right in the world.
